The Kingswood Junior School's
Environmental Project
"....learning about the natural world on our school site"

Kingswood School has a very central location in Basildon, just 700 metres from the town centre. However, the school's site has a well wooded perimeter with deep hedges and small copses. There is a great variety of trees at the school. The large playing field is home to many roosting birds including woodpeckers, black-headed gulls, magpies, rooks, and wood pigeons. There is at least one family of foxes living in the copses.
We want to use this resource to help pupils to understand the living nature of the school site.
This Project is for staff, pupils, parents, and interested groups from the community. We hope this website is used as a teaching resource for our pupils, an example of what we as an Eco-School can do for the pupils' learning, and a celebration of what is natural - in the heart of our busy town.
As the Project develops so this site will change. Monthly updates of our pupils' discoveries and work will be posted here and much, much, more.
Should you wish to comment on the Project or this site please contact the School or use the website's Blog via the menu.
